Noriko Matsubara & Satoko Sato have been practicing hishizashi handed down through their region's generations.
 

Noriko Matsubara

Born in Japan, lives and works in the UK. Noriko Matsubara received a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Visual Arts) from Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada, and completed a MA Fine Art at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, UK. She was initiated into the world of Nanbu Hishizashi by Koyo Nishino, the master of Nanbu Hishizashi. Noriko also works with other mediums including drawing, painting, sculpture, photography and illustration.

Satoko Sato

Born, lives and works in Japan. Satoko Sato graduated from Tohoku Women's College, Japan, where she learnt traditional stitching of Nanbu Hishizashi and Kogin. She practices both Nanbu Hishizashi and Kogin, committing to inheriting the traditional stitching of Aomori Prefecture, northern Japan, and passing it to the next generation.
